An Oracle database administrator (DBA) performs a critical role within an organisation. Charged with understanding the processes and architecture of the Oracle database, they fine-tune the day-to-day performance that is the backbone of the organisation's IT system.
A typical Oracle DBA would be employed to ensure that an employer's Oracle database system operates correctly and efficiently and that the database's security was ensured. The Oracle DBA would also be in charge of allowing users differing levels of access to the database and ensuring that users would be correctly and efficiently connected to the database.
Working within this role usually requires:
- University degree in information systems or related field
- Experience of Oracle and PL/SQL supporting complex 24/7 enterprise applications
- ETL
